OUR STORY

Mr Lau came from a small village in Shandong Province, Northern China where some relatives still reside to this day. Emigrating to Hong Kong at a young age he trained as a Pastry Chef specialising in handmade noodles and dumplings.

His skills and the want of a better life for his family brought him to England where he worked in one of London’s top Michelin Star restaurants for his friend Mr Kai, Kai Mayfair before eventually moving up north to Manchester with his family to open his own restaurant ‘Summer Palace’ in Sale with his sons Danny, Phillip and Tony Lau (our Head Chef) which subsequently served the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and the Manchester United players, Sebastian Coe, the cast of Coronation Street to name but a few on a regular basis…

Mr. Lau had demonstrated his celebrity status on Granada Television with Tony and even cooked for the Royal Family, namely Princess Diana and Prince Charles when they came to open the Wah Sing Chinese Community Centre Liverpool in 1965.

Dining not necessary, our Bar is always open.
We stop woking food at 10pm!
